We are publishing this road map for the Quick Objects to better communicate the direction we are taking on new features and components. Although we can not guarantee the timeline or specific features we do our best to honor customer feedback, and ensure important and common requests are incorporated on a timely manner.

Enhancements All Components Support for VS 2008 - Our target is to release a new build of all components that are compiled natively in .NET Framework 3.5 and fully support VS 2008.  ( Complete )
Enhancements Quick Objects Designer - We are planning on adding capabilities to the designer that will allow you to implement field validation logic in the designer and the validation code will automatically get generated.  ( Complete )
Enhancements Ability to easily specify Aggregate Sub Query columns during Find or Load method. Even though the current version allows you the capability to add sub queries by using string field's IsCustom property, we are planning to add a much simpler way to specify sub query as a display field. ( Complete )

Quick Objects Business Logic Layer -

LINQ Provider

We are planning on releasing the LINQ provider for Quick Objects that will allow you to use LINQ against classes that extend the power of business logic framework.  ( Complete )

MySQL Support

A planned support for MySQL 5.0 is in the works and anticipated timeline for release is by mid Q2 2008. If you need support for any other database server or need MySQL support earlier, please email support ( At ) AkalTech.com and do let us know!  ( Complete )

New Component

Quick Objects Web Xml Form (Preview)

WebXmlForm is a revolutionary component that allows you to create ASP.NET user interfaces with amazing speed and flexibility. Quick Objects WebXmlForm component is now available to all subscription customers. The WebXmlForm component has a very unique and powerful architecture that allows you to use any of the supported controls by just creating an xml file. You can even modify the xml screens without modifying/recompiling your code! Best of all the component is very light weight and can be used for high performance applications as well! WebXmlForm's architecture is very flexible and its provider model allows you to plug and use any custom or third party controls.

Best of all WebXmlForm component integrates with Quick Objects Business Logic Framework and can transfer field values to and from the business objects to the web form controls with amazing simplicity. In addition, the WebXmlForm component also can handle validation of such fields. As always, we are committed to delivering a component that will put the control in your hands!  ( Preview Available )

Enhancement Even though you can currently use Views and/or Stored Procedures directly with business logic framework. We are planning to enhance the designer to make it even easier to use View and/or Stored Procedures.  ( Complete and New Tutorial )

VistaDB, Access and Sql CE Database Server Support

We are planning on introducing support for other database servers by end of Q2 2008 including databases VistaDB, Access, and Sql Compact Edition.  ( Complete )

Quick Objects Business Logic Layer -

DB2 and Terradata Database Server Support

We are planning on introducing support for DB2 and Terradata database servers in Q3 2008. If you have a preferred database server that is not supported or need DB2 support earlier, please email support ( At ) AkalTech.com and do let us know! Currently supported databases are Sql Server, Oracle, MySql, VistaDB, Access, and Sql Compact Edition
